Hi! I’m Regi.

The makings of a maker

Creator. Storyteller. Photographer. Entrepreneur. Connoisseur. Dinosaur (rawr!).

These are just a few words that describe me, Regi(na) Strauss, the woman behind the metaphorical Midpractical Modern curtain.

With an active imagination and drive to bring stories to life, I spent my young adult years involved in theater, language and visual arts. It led me into a career in marketing, where I managed communications and creative for various home decor manufacturers, as well as founded my own photography business.

In 2022, I decided it was time to follow my pioneering spirit and made a transition from full-time corporate career to freelancing, so I could spend time launching my lifestyle blog and brand, Midpractical Modern.

Bringing a lifestyle to life

Before the phrase ‘midpractical modern‘ ever existed, I was already living this life from a young age, instilled into me by (or inherited from?) my parents.

My dad is a true DIY-er “I can fix that” guy who is always on the hunt for a discount or Craig’s List. My mom is a woman who knows when something is beyond her (or my dad’s) capabilities, schedule, or patience and doesn’t hesitate to hire a pro or buy the thing my dad refuses to spend money on.

I like to think that I’m a 50/50 split of their traits, right down the middle.

Midpractical Modern is my love letter to them and to you; a way to share these midpractical life experiences with you. The good, the bad, and even the ugly stuff.

And to show you that, with a bit of planning, perseverance, and midpracticality along with a big dash of fun, you can achieve any goal, habit, or project you put your mind to.

Extracurriculars

A life-long Clevelander, I’ve lived and learned across the greater northeast Ohio area and currently reside in Lakewood, OH with my husband and pup.

When I’m not freelancing or working on midpractical challenges and DIY projects, you can find me reading a book from my ever-growing TBR list, cycling at my local spin studios or planning my next travel or food adventure.

And if you can’t find me doing any of those things, I’m probably playing Euchre on my phone ♠️♥️♣️♦️
